Berkshire 1900 Colonial Renovation

We were called in to transform a run-down screen porch, an outdated kitchen, and a home that needed more space for entertaining. The challenge was to create something that felt generous and connected, while remaining true to the intimate scale and character of this 1900 Colonial.

During our initial visit, an idea emerged: transform the existing screen porch into a year-round dining room, designed in the spirit of a conservatory, with expansive windows on three sides. Rather than enlarge the kitchen, we reconfigured the existing footprint as a more efficient galley kitchen, making the most of every inch.

As the project evolved, we also refreshed the living room, adjacent dining area, and foyer—spaces that flow directly into the new dining room. Updating these connected rooms allowed the entire first floor to feel cohesive, while giving each space its own character.

The result is a home that feels brighter, more functional, and ready for entertaining, while respecting the charm and scale of its original architecture.
