Last week I was honored to have a room I designed published in the Boston Globe. Sharing my work is a fun part of the design process. There are many details involved in putting a room or a house together, but what guides those decisions is the overall design concept. Once you figure that out with your client, it’s your guiding light for the project. That’s a topic in and of itself.
I love new furnishings, and there are many wonderful products out there. However, I also love reupholstering vintage pieces if they have good bones. Especially if they are on the smaller side, they can go almost anywhere. I also think glass coffee tables are great on oriental or “art” rugs because you are able to see the entire pattern and it opens up the space. Choosing the right accessories to finish the room is what gives it personality. Sometimes you will want new things, but again, “shop” your home first. It is wonderful to incorporate a favorite work of art or something special you bought while traveling or even a favorite art book from a memorable museum visit.
I thought I would include a few more pictures of the room.
